The Kätzchen was well-received for its layout and mobility, although it faced issues with the gearbox and was limited to two chassis types due to these problems. The project was eventually adapted from the Hetzer tank destroyer chassis, resulting in the Vollkettenaufklärer 38 (t) Kätzchen.
