The KV-8s were a significant development in Soviet tank design, particularly during World War II. They were designed to be a hybrid of a heavy tank and a flamethrower, equipped with the ATO-41 flamethrower in a fixed turret instead of a traditional turret. This design was based on the KV-1S chassis, which allowed for the use of 80% of production components, expediting prototype development. The KV-8s were used by the Russians in all fronts of WWII and were organized in special separate flamethrower tank battalions. The only flamethrower tank brigade was the 235th Brigade on the Stalingrad Front in 1942. The KV-8 and KV-8S were used by Russians in all fronts of WWII.
